Aerospace and defense: Served as Director of Commercial Development for a major technology company, now part of a global aerospace corporation, to commercialize products originally produced for military applications
Advisor for the buyout of an aerospace parts manufacturer by a New York private equity firm, and its subsequent expansion through a roll-up of additional acquisitions.
Energy: More than 20 years experience in acquisitions and project financings in oil and gas development, enhanced oil recovery (EOR) projects in existing fields, refineries, power plants and crude oil tankers.
Entertainment: Worked alongside the former CEO of a large chain of movie theaters to acquire “out of favor” locations from another chain.
Furniture manufacturing: Oversaw successful turnaround of two firms in the Northeastern United States, with offshoring of some production.
Managed the wind-down of a $50 million, 500-employee furniture manufacturer.
IT-Software products and services: Sales and marketing roles at IBM, Honeywell, Motorola, and two start-up companies, one a database systems company and the second a language translation firm with locations in Los Angeles and the Dominican Republic.
Real Estate: Managed 40-home residential development project in suburban Boston, including land acquisition, entitlement and road development.
Financial adviser to a $400 million mixed use project in Memphis, Tennessee, including a 250-room hotel, 82 condominiums, 87 luxury apartments and 130,000 sq. feet of retail and office space.
Resources: Oversaw the purchase, operations and sale of an $8 million/year New England metal recycling plant, with an ROI of 650%
Board member of a $20 million/year paper mill in Columbus, Ohio, acquired through a buyout.
International
Co-founded and operated the American Baltic Fund, a private equity firm which targeted buyouts in the Baltic Region including northwest Russia. Sponsored economic/financial seminars for investors. Worked with US Embassy and Baltic State government officials. Oversaw financial and legal aspects of accepting funds from institutions and high-net-worth individuals in the United States, Great Britain and Switzerland.
Assisted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to identify qualified US-based hospital management companies to operate medical facilities in Riyadh. Responsible for identifying and qualifying providers per the Client’s requirements, structuring the terms of the contract, and acting as facilitator during contract negotiations.
Assisted US investor in obtaining an exclusive 25-year walnut tree logging lease for the entire country of Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia. Resolved issues ranging from trucking of logs to Italy, to resolving of business culture issues among the American, Russian, and Kyrgyz business partners.
Financial adviser to a firm in the British Virgin Islands on sourcing of $25 million-plus financing for the acquisition of a fishing factory trawler fleet from a seller in Greece. Issues ranged from vessel flagging, Jones Act fishing rights, admiralty law, loan guarantees and projecting cash flows, to arranging for verification of fish catches.
